Akhilesh Yadav has accused of house arrest of opposition workers and along with that he has shared CCTV clip on social media. On Monday night, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the district administration in connivance with the police in several districts of Uttar Pradesh were “illegally” detaining opposition party workers in their homes, preventing them from participating in the counting of votes.
Sharing CCTV footage of the incident on his official X handle, Akhilesh said such actions against opposition workers must stop, and called for the immediate release of those “detained”.
He said, “Hon’ble Supreme Court, @ECISVEEP (Election Commission of India), @CEOUP (Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh), Police Chief @dgpup @Uppolice must immediately take cognizance of the fact that in many districts of UP, including Mirzapur, Aligarh, Kannauj, the District Magistrate and Police administration are illegally detaining (‘nazarbandi’) political workers of the Opposition so that they cannot participate in the counting of votes tomorrow.”
He further said, “When all the political parties are working peacefully, the government should avoid any unethical act which may cause anger among the public. It is hoped that the biased District Magistrates and administrative officers will be removed immediately and the voting process will be completed in a peaceful environment.” The SP chief expressed hope that the biased District Magistrates and administrative officers will be removed from their posts and the counting of votes will take place in a peaceful environment.
