Arshdeep Singh’s statement, said- ‘Tried my best to put the seam but the ball was swinging’

Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh said that in the match against Ireland, he focused on sticking to his strategy as it was difficult to control the ball on the ‘drop in’ pitch. India achieved the target in 12.2 overs after bowling out Ireland for 96 runs in 16 overs. Arshdeep admitted that it was difficult to control the swing and he took advice from Jasprit Bumrah for this.

He said, “I tried my best to bowl with a wobbly seam but the ball was swinging so much that it was not happening. Many of my balls went wide.” Arshdeep, who bowled five wide balls, took the wickets of opener Andy Balbirnie and captain Paul Stirling.

Arshdeep said, ‘Jassi bhai (Bumrah) has a lot of experience and he keeps telling us not to run after the wicket. Bowl the ball at the right place. Whether it helps in stopping runs or getting wickets.’ He said, ‘Control means not getting greedy and not running after wickets. There were clouds in the sky and the ball was swinging. Initially the strategy was to take advantage of this and if the Ireland batsmen make mistakes then we will also get wickets.’

There is a lot of criticism about the pitch of Nassau County. Arshdeep said, “I have come here after playing IPL in which 240 runs were also being scored. When we talk about the pitch, the focus should be on what is in our control because the pitch is the same for both the teams. The team which performs better will get better results. ” He also denied the news that there was a discussion in the dressing room to play cautiously so that injuries can be avoided.

He said, “Nothing like this happened. We don’t think about the situation in the middle of the tournament. If we have to take a catch, we have to take it. We don’t think about avoiding injury. We will play like this in every match. It doesn’t matter which team is in front of us.
