Two new metro corridors will be built in Delhi, work has started, there will be connectivity with Indralok and Lajpat Nagar

There is another good news for the people of Delhi. Two new metro corridors are going to open for the people of Delhi by 2028. Delhi is going to get the gift of a new metro corridor. Approvals are being taken for land acquisition and other permissions for the construction of the metro. The line will be extended from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and Indralok to Indraprastha under Phase 4. Approval has already been received to extend this metro phase.

These projects have received approval from the Union Cabinet in March. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is currently working on getting statutory approvals including land acquisition and forest clearance requirements from the Delhi Development Authority, Central Public Works Department and PWD. The construction of the sections will begin in the coming months.

It is also expected that before moving forward on issues like laying of tracks, electricity lines, signaling etc., other planning will be done. Under this, planning will be done for civil works and tender related processes will be completed. The target has been set to complete both the corridors by 2028.

8 interchange stations will be built in the corridor

The corridor to be built between Indralok and Indraprastha will be equipped with 10 stations. The length of one corridor is 12.4 km. A corridor will also be built between Lajpat Nagar and Saket G Block whose length is 8.4 km. There will be a total of eight stations in this corridor. An art interchange station will also be built in this corridor. Interchange stations will be built at Indralok, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate and Indraprastha in the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor. Interchange stations will be built at Lajpat Nagar, Chirag Delhi and Saket G Block on the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block route. At present, there are a total of 29 interchange stations on all routes of Delhi Metro.
