Congress leader Jairam Ramesh was thrilled to see the performance of INDIA Alliance, said- the current Prime Minister is going to become the former Prime Minister

Counting of votes is underway to decide the fate of candidates on 43 out of 542 parliamentary seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are leading from Varanasi, Lucknow, Rae Bareli and Kannauj Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh respectively. If the initial trends are to be seen, the performance of India Alliance (Congress and Mahagathbandhan) in 2024 is going well in the last 10 years. India Alliance has crossed the 200 mark. Congress General Secretary and Communication Incharge Jairam Ramesh could not stop himself from talking to the media regarding the initial trends. Jairam Ramesh targeted PM Modi over the initial trends and said that now the countdown of BJP has started.

Congress general secretary and communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh said, “These trends show that the current (PM) is going to become the former Prime Minister. This is his moral and political defeat… It has never happened before that a Prime Minister is trailing from his own constituency. The trends of Varanasi are just a trailer…”

BJP-led NDA leading in 227 out of 392 parliamentary seats: Election Commission

According to Election Commission data, the BJP-led NDA was leading in 227 of the 392 parliamentary seats, while opposition party India Bloc was ahead in at least 137 seats. As of 9:45 am, the BJP alone was leading in 187 seats and had won Surat unopposed, while the Congress was ahead in 70 seats. Union minister Smriti Irani was trailing in Amethi and former Union minister Maneka Gandhi in Sultanpur. Union minister Nitin Gadkari was ahead by a slender margin in Nagpur.
