Shiv Sena leader Tanaji Sawant stirred up a controversy when he said that he never agreed with the NCP in his entire life. He compared his relationship with the NCP to sitting in its lap but feeling nauseous as soon as he gets up.

A leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena said his party’s proximity to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) made him feel like vomiting and called it an allergic reaction. Shiv Sena leader Tanaji Sawant stirred up a controversy when he said he never agreed with the NCP all his life. He compared his relationship with the NCP to “sitting in their lap but feeling nauseous as soon as you get up”.

Speaking at an event, Tanaji Sawant had said, “I am a Shiv Sainik. It is true that in my life I have never got along with Congress or NCP. It is like an allergic reaction, where the mere presence causes discomfort and nausea. The ideologies are totally different, so it is not possible to agree with them.” He further added, “Even when I sit with NCP chief Ajit Pawar in the cabinet, as soon as I step out, I start vomiting. This is something that cannot be tolerated and at the age of 60, it cannot be tolerated. Something that cannot be changed. We are committed to our principles.”

Tanaji Sawant’s remarks have evoked a sharp reaction from the Nationalist Congress Party. They said that we are ready to fulfill the coalition dharma only. Only the Chief Minister can cure his nausea. Tanaji Sawant’s recent comments have raised concerns of a significant controversy within the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. This is not the first time Tanaji Sawant has been at the centre of controversies. Last year, a video surfaced in which he was allegedly pressuring a senior police officer of Dharashiv (Osmanabad) district to transfer a police inspector, leading to widespread debate and criticism.
