The Election Commission said that the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections, state assemblies of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and assembly by-elections will begin at 8 am on June 4. The Commission said that the counting of votes for the assembly elections in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will begin at 6 am on Sunday.

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Saturday said counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections, state assemblies of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and assembly bye-elections will begin at 8 am on June 4. The Commission said counting of votes for assembly elections in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will begin at 6 am on Sunday. The counting of votes for assembly elections in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh was postponed to June 2 from June 4 as the term of both the assemblies ends on June 2 and a new House has to be constituted by that date.

The Election Commission in a statement on Saturday also shared the latest instructions issued by it on the counting arrangements, counting process, storage of EVMs and paper trail machines. According to one of the instructions, the counting of postal ballots will start first at the Returning Officer’s table as per Rule 54A of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961. The trends and results will also be displayed locally through digital display panels by the Chief Electoral Officers of the states, Returning Officers and District Election Officers.
