Four Indian students drowned in a river near St. Petersburg in Russia and the Indian Mission here is in touch with Russian authorities to hand over their bodies to their families as soon as possible. All four students were studying medicine at Novgorod State University located in Veliky Novgorod city. These included two boys and two girls aged between 18 and 20 years. According to local media, an Indian student went a little away from the bank in the Volkhov river and started drowning, then four of her friends tried to save her.
According to reports, three more students drowned in the river while trying to save him. One boy was rescued safely by the locals.
