Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: BJP will do a clean sweep in the Lok Sabha elections, trends show, lead in Chhindwara

Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: Counting trends for the Lok Sabha elections have revealed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will make a clean sweep in Madhya Pradesh as the saffron party is leading in all 29 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Congress is ready to lose its last fort Chhindwara

The trends also showed that the BJP will be successful in snatching the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency, the last bastion of the Congress. The saffron party last won the Chhindwara seat in 1997. According to the Election Commission of India website, BJP candidate Vivek Bunty Sahu has taken a lead over Congress leader Kamal Nath’s son and sitting MP Nakul Nath.

Early trends showed that the Modi wave, which was very evident in Madhya Pradesh, continued to hurt the Congress, which also faced defeat in the recent assembly elections.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP won 28 out of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in the 2019 general election. Chhindwara – Kamal Nath’s stronghold – was the only seat the BJP failed to win in the previous elections. In the Lok Sabha elections 2014, the saffron party had won 27 seats.

Madhya Pradesh went to polls in four phases for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The people of the state voted in the first four phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13.

Key candidates in Madhya Pradesh

Out of the 29 seats, all eyes are on three main seats of Madhya Pradesh, which include Vidisha, Guna and Chhindwara. Chhindwara is the hottest seat in Madhya Pradesh. BJP has fielded Bunty Vivek Sahu against Nakul Nath. Another important seat is Guna – traditionally a Congress stronghold, but the political equations in the constituency are different this election as Jyotiraditya Scindia contested on a BJP ticket. The next hot seat is the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency. BJP has fielded Shivraj Singh Chouhan from the Vidisha seat. Vidisha, a BJP stronghold, has been the home turf of BJP candidate Chouhan, as he won from the constituency five times before becoming the Chief Minister of the state.
