Many world leaders congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his historic election victory

Colombo. World leaders including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the victory of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the general elections. Leaders from across the world have expressed their desire to work with him. Election Commission of India has declared the election results of all Lok Sabha constituencies, in which Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 240 out of 543 seats and Congress has got 99 seats.

In the results of the general elections, the BJP-led NDA alliance is well above the majority figure of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha, but the BJP has fallen short of the magic figure for the first time since 2014. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni posted on the social media platform X and wrote, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his victory in the Lok Sabha elections. It is certain that we will work together to strengthen the friendship that binds Italy and India and cooperate on various issues for the good of our nations and our people.”

Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulated the BJP-led NDA alliance on its victory and expressed confidence in the prosperity and progress of the Indian people under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. “As our closest neighbour, Sri Lanka looks forward to a strong partnership with India,” he posted on “X”. Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda congratulated his Indian counterpart on the ruling alliance’s electoral success. “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the historic third consecutive victory of the BJP and NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. We are delighted to see the enthusiastic participation of the people of India and the successful completion of the world’s largest democratic process,” he said in a post on “X”.

Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth congratulated Modi on his historic victory. Jugnauth wrote on ‘X’, Congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on his historic victory for the third term. Under your leadership, the largest democracy will continue to move on the path of progress. Long live the special Mauritius-India relationship. Maldives President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu also congratulated Prime Minister Modi and expressed his desire to work with the Indian Prime Minister to improve and further expand bilateral relations.

On ‘X’ he wrote, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Modi and the BJP-led NDA on their third consecutive success in the 2024 Indian general election.” He said, I am excited to work closely with India for the shared prosperity and stability of both countries and to advance common interests. ‘ Since the pro-China Muizzu took office in November last year, his statements and actions have affected bilateral relations between India and Maldives. Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also congratulated Modi and the NDA for their third consecutive historic victory and said that he is very much looking forward to working with them.

“Congratulations to my friend PM Modi Ji and NDA on this historic third consecutive victory in the world’s largest election. He will take India to new heights in the times to come and I look forward to working with him to further strengthen the ties between our two countries,” he wrote on ‘X’.
