Norway Chess Tournament: India’s R Praggnanandhaa creates history, defeats world champion Ding Liren

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa defeated world champion Ding Liren to extend his win over Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana in the seventh round of the Norway Chess tournament on Monday. Praggnanandhaa and Liren faced a stalemate in the classical format before the Indian prevailed in the tiebreaker Armageddon game.

The Indian Grandmaster has previously defeated high-ranked players including Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana in this tournament.

Ding Liren lost in the Armageddon game, giving the young Indian player another high-profile win despite a draw in the conventional game.
