New Delhi: Public sector company ONGC has sought help from an internationally experienced technical service provider to increase oil and gas production from its Mumbai High field in the Arabian Sea. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) said in a post on social media platform X that it has issued an international tender to identify a service provider who can help in increasing production from the Mumbai High field. The oil and gas company said, the giant multi-layered Mumbai High field started production 48 years ago in 1976 but is currently in its mature phase of production.

ONGC has implemented several schemes in the field to improve production. As the custodian and operator of the Mumbai High field, ONGC plans to work with a global technical service provider. The contract with the service provider will be for 10 years. The contract can be extended for another five years. The service provider will provide technical solutions to increase production. It will be paid a fixed fee and a share in the revenue from increased production. The Mumbai High field is located 160 km off the coast of Mumbai and has a share of about 38 percent of India’s oil production. The field is estimated to have reserves of 80 million tonnes of oil and more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas.
