The Aam Aadmi Party today (7 June) suspended its former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Nitin Tyagi from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect following complaints of anti-party activities in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2024. The party issued these orders through a letter written by AAP’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai. The reason behind his suspension is stated to be anti-party activities during the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The letter written by Delhi convenor Gopal Rai to Nitin Tyagi states that it has come to our notice that you have been involved in anti-party activities during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Reacting to his suspension, Nitin Tyagi said that speaking the truth within the party nowadays has become an anti-party activity. Taking a dig at AAP’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai, he said that destroying the basic foundation of the party is an anti-party activity.

Tyagi wrote in a post on X, “Has speaking the truth in the party become anti-party these days? Destroying the basic foundations of the party is anti-party Gopal Rai ji. Asking people to vote for those against whom the public had sent them is anti-party.” Earlier in the day, before receiving the suspension letter, former MLA Nitin Tyagi had posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) and criticized the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal for the massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.
