Bihar: ‘Tiger is alive…’, posters put up all over Patna regarding kingmaker Nitish Kumar

A huge hoarding of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with the slogan ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ has been put up in the state capital Patna. This comes after the Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader has extended support to Narendra Modi to lead the party. The next National Democratic Alliance (NDA) central government will be formed on June 9. Kumar’s JD-U, which is an alliance partner in the NDA, won 12 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the results of which were declared on June 4.

Bihar sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha. In the general election, the BJP won 12 seats while the Chirag Paswan-led LJP won 5 seats. Overall, the NDA got 30 of the 40 seats in Bihar while the opposition India Bloc won 9 seats. ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ refers to the 2017 film starring Salman Khan which was a sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger. The hoarding with the picture of Kumar and two tigers has been put up near Tara Mandal in the state capital Patna. The hoarding also has a picture of Sonu Singh, who is probably a JDU worker.

Earlier in the day, senior BJP leaders, newly elected MPs and allies including TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar on Friday extended support to Narendra Modi to lead the next National Democratic Alliance (NDA) central government. Modi was elected as the NDA’s parliamentary leader during a meeting in the Central Hall of Parliament. Narendra Modi is set to take oath as prime minister on Sunday. Modi, along with Naidu and Nitish Kumar, is likely to meet President Draupadi Murmu later today to stake formal claim to form the government.

Kumar’s support comes at a crucial time as the political landscape is witnessing significant changes. Kumar also took a dig at the opposition Indo-Pak faction and questioned their unity and solidarity. He highlighted internal conflicts within the faction and the lack of a clear leadership approach, which he believes reduces their effectiveness against the ruling BJP. Nitish said all the pending work of Bihar will be done. It is a very good thing that we have all come together and we will all work together with you (PM Modi). He said that you will take oath as the Prime Minister on Sunday, but I wanted you to take this oath today itself. Whenever you take oath, we will be with you… we will all work together under your leadership.’ He attacked the Indo-Pak alliance and said that ‘Next time when you come, some people who won here and there, next time sab haarega. Humko puri vishwas hai.

He said that the opposition group did not do any work for the country. I will always be with PM Modi. All the pending work of Bihar will be done. It is a very good thing that we all have come together and we will all work together with you (PM Modi). Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) major ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Nitish Kumar on Friday supported the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
