Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday decided to shift the second Test against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi due to ongoing renovation work at the National Stadium. The decision was taken after discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The first Test is scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi from August 21. The PCB had earlier said that the second Test match (August 30 to September 3) would be played in an empty stadium in Karachi.

Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy next year and in view of this, the National Stadium in Karachi is being renovated. According to a statement issued by the PCB, “Our construction experts informed us about the time frame for the preparation of the venue. They advised that construction may continue during the match and the players may be disturbed by its noise. ” He said, “Along with this, the dust emanating from the construction work can also affect the health of players, officials, broadcasters and media.
