Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday completed his 45-hour meditation session at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial here and offered floral tributes to Tamil saint poet Tiruvalluvar.At the conclusion of the meditation session, Modi, dressed in white, visited the complex next to the memorial where the 133-foot-tall statue of Tiruvalluvar is located and offered a huge garland.He travelled to the statue complex by boat and later arrived at the shore.

The Prime Minister arrived in Thiruvananthapuram by helicopter and from there left for Delhi. On his arrival here on May 30, Modi offered prayers at the Bhagavathi Amman Temple and later visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. During his stay at the memorial, the Prime Minister meditated and offered ‘Surya Arghya’ at sunrise. Under ‘Surya Arghya’, water is offered to Lord Sun and he is saluted. The Prime Minister’s visit to Kanyakumari for meditation was opposed by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu, including the constituents of the ‘India’ alliance.
