Itanagar. The Congress, which managed to win only one seat in the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, said on Sunday that it accepts the mandate. The results of the assembly elections held in the state were declared today. Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Nabam Tuki said that the party is “disappointed but not discouraged” by the election results. Congress had fielded 19 candidates in the 60-member assembly and it won only Bameng seat in East Kameng district. Tuki said in a statement that the party “humbly accepts the mandate of the people with a sense of responsibility.”

He thanked the people of Arunachal Pradesh for participating in the polling process. Tuki said, “The party has lost the election but not the courage. Congress will work hard and continue to fight responsibly for the rights of the people as well as the ideals of the country.” The APCC president also thanked party workers and leaders who “worked tirelessly with sincerity and dedication on the ground and put in their best efforts in the election process”. He said, “We are certainly disappointed but not discouraged. We will introspect on the reasons for the defeat and work on the organisation in the coming days.
