Naxalites killed a villager on suspicion of being a police informer

Narayanpur. In Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Narayanpur district, Naxalites dragged a 45-year-old villager out of his house and killed him on suspicion of being a police informer. Police officials gave this information on Monday and said that the killed villager had no connection with the police. Police officials told that Naxalites killed Shaluram Potai on Sunday night in Maspur village of the district. They told that around 10 pm on Sunday night, 15 to 20 armed uniformed Naxalites reached the house of Shaluram Potai and dragged him out of the house and killed him. Police officials told that after carrying out the incident, the Naxalites fled from there.

He said that after receiving information about the incident, a police team was sent to the spot. After this, the body was sent for post-mortem. Officials said that the Kutul Area Committee of Maoists has left pamphlets at the spot in which they have accused Potai of being a police informer. Police officials have denied Potai’s links with the police. He said that the Naxalites have killed the innocent villager in desperation to disrupt development work in the area and create an atmosphere of terror.

“A police camp was set up in Maspur village two months ago to facilitate development works. After the camp was opened, a road was built from Sonpur village to Maspur and a culvert was also constructed on the Metanar drain. Road construction work from Maspur to Horadi was started two days ago,” the official said. He said the Naxals killed an innocent villager a day after road construction work began in the village, which clearly shows that they are afraid of losing their land in the area and want to obstruct development work.
