Devendra Jhajharia feels it is just a matter of time for star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra to throw 90m and predicted he could do the 93m in a year or two. Chopra won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics earlier this month with a throw of 89.45m.

New Delhi. Veteran para athlete Devendra Jhajharia feels it is just a matter of time for star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra to throw 90 metres and predicted that he could throw 93 metres in a year or two. Chopra had won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics earlier this month with a throw of 89.45 metres. He again finished second at the Lausanne Diamond League on Thursday with a throw of 89.49 metres. Jhajharia himself is a para javelin throw veteran who has won two Paralympic gold medals in the F46 category.

He said that when Chopra crosses the 90 meter barrier, he will cross it by a big margin in which he will be ahead by three to four meters. Jhajharia (43 years) told PTI, “If I say in javelin throw, then more than 89 meters has become a ‘barrier’ for Neeraj at this time. I have seen in my 20-year sports career that when a ‘barrier’ is broken, it is not broken by just one meter or less but by three to four meters. ”

He said, “When Neeraj does this, he will not just throw the javelin from 90 meters but three to four meters away. Mark my words.” Jhajharia, who was elected President of the Indian Paralympic Committee in March, said, “Age is on his side, 26 years is not an age and I hope that when he is 28 or 29 years old, he will be at his peak. Till then he will perform his best. ” He said, “He is very disciplined and very dedicated. I have seen this when we trained together in Finland in 2022.
