The SIT had issued a notice to Bhavani asking her to appear at her home for questioning in the abduction case linked to sexual abuse allegations against her son. However, when a team of the SIT reached Bhavani’s home ‘Chennambika Nilaya’, she was not present.

The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, mother of suspended Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, in an abduction case linked to sexual abuse allegations against her son. The High Court’s decision to grant her bail states that she has to fully cooperate with the investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the alleged sexual abuse charges against Prajwal.

Last week, the SIT had issued a notice to Bhavani asking her to appear at her home for questioning in the abduction case linked to sexual abuse allegations against her son. However, when a team of the SIT reached Bhavani’s home ‘Chennambika Nilaya’, she was not present. The High Court order also prohibits Bhavani from entering Hassan district or KR Nagar in Mysore. These conditions are aimed at ensuring that the investigation proceeds without any interference or influence from the parties involved.

While passing the interim order, a single judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit said, “A direction is issued to the state police not to arrest the petitioner nor to detain him. This is subject to strict conditions, this is an order granting bail and has not been given to the petitioner and it will not be celebrated.”
